The Canadian Association of Financial Institutions in Insurance (CAFII) announced that its board has elected a new chair from the industry to succeed Nicole Benson, who has recently completed a two-year term as chair.
Chris Lobbezoo, vice president of creditor insurance with RBC Insurance will succeed Benson who, in her term, expanded the use of customer satisfaction research on the products CAFII members offer, to give members deeper insight into the insurance expectations of Canadians. Benson also led the organization to increase its focus on consumer education about the insurance options its members provide. The president and CEO of Valeyo, the primary distribution partner of the Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company, she will remain on CAFII’s board as the director from her member organization.
The not-for-profit industry association was established in 1997 “to provide a voice for financial institutions involved in selling insurance through a variety of distribution methods.” Its members offer a variety of insurance products including travel, life, health, property and casualty and credit protection insurance. Members include the insurance arms of Canada’s major financial institutions – banks and credit unions – along with other major industry players including Manulife and Sun Life.
