Security and privacy policy

Les Éditions du Journal de l’assurance Inc. is committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how we collect, use, protect, and share your personal information, and how it can be accessed and corrected when necessary. This Policy also describes how cookies are used on our website.

By accessing, visiting, or using our portals (https://portail-assurance.ca or https://insurance-portal.ca), communicating with us, purchasing our products or services, or agreeing to receive our emails, you accept the terms and conditions of this Policy.

1. Information Provided by You

We collect your personal information in various ways, including when you enter information on our Portals, make a purchase, subscribe to a newsletter, contact us by phone or email, or post on our social media accounts. Depending on the circumstances, personal information may include your first and last name, mailing address, postal code, email address, phone number, employer, and other details if you consent. We only collect the information necessary for our purposes.

If you make an online purchase through our Portals, certain financial information will be required. Credit card payments are processed directly by our certified provider, Stripe, a company specializing in secure online payment services. You will need to provide your first and last name, mailing address, and credit card number. We do not view, have access to, or store credit card numbers on our servers. Credit card details are stored solely within Stripe’s system, which we cannot fully access.

Personal data is securely encrypted and highly protected during transmission.

If, at your request, our customer service team temporarily collects your credit card details by phone to assist with a transaction, this data will be entered into our system and protected in the same way as data provided through our Portals. Any temporary support material used is then destroyed.

2. Information Collected Automatically

We also collect information when you visit our Portals or participate in our events, including your IP address, date, time, and duration of visits, as well as pages viewed. Like most websites, our Portals use cookies, temporary files installed on your computer’s hard drive or web browser that gather information such as your language preference, browsing history on our Portals, and your browser type and version. This optimizes your experience on our website. We use cookies to compile aggregate data on how our Portals are used to enhance the user experience. Trusted third parties may also collect this data on our behalf. These cookies do not extract personal information.

We may also use other industry-standard technologies, such as pixel tags and web beacons, to track your use of our Portals and promotions, or we may authorize third-party service providers to do so on our behalf (including, but not limited to, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Poool, LinkedIn, or Facebook). Pixel tags and web beacons are small graphic images embedded in various pages on our Portals or emails, allowing us to see if they have been viewed. When you connect to a page, open an email, or click a link, these tags record the action, helping us measure and improve our understanding of visitor behavior on our Portals and increase the relevance and effectiveness of our promotions.
