The Investment Industry Association of Canada (IIAC) announced January 16 that it has appointed Martin Guest and Gerry O’Mahoney to serve the association in an advisory capacity.

Guest is formerly senior vice president and general counsel for Manulife while O’Mahoney is principal and founder of Tralee Capital Markets. Both join other familiar faces on the advisory board, including Manulife’s former senior vice president of advisory services, Rick Annaert, Deborah Leckman, former commissioner of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and Alan Hutton, former president and CEO of Fundserv Inc. Today the IIAC advisory group contains 13 members.

Since leaving Manulife at the end of 2019, Guest has been the self-employed founder of Counsel by Counsel, a coaching service for lawyers, by lawyers. He was appointed to a two-year, part time term to the Financial Services Tribunal in December 2021, and also works as a member of the independent review committee, with Connor, Clark & Lunn Funds Inc., which oversees all decisions made by managers of publicly traded investment funds on issues of perceived or actual conflicts of interest.

O’Mahoney, meanwhile, founded Tralee just over 13 years ago after leaving a nearly 15-year career with TD Bank and TD Wealth Management, which began back in 1994.
