Jeff Macoun is ending a career spanning over 40 years at Canada Life.
Having held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer for the insurer's Canadian operations for the last six years, Macoun will retire in 2024.
"In that role, Jeff led the company to the historic milestone of coming together as one Canada Life brand and steered through the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19," said the insurer in the announcement.
Successor appointed
Effective February 16, 2024, Fabrice Morin will assume the role vacated by Jeff Macoun. From this date until his retirement, Macoun "will transition to the role of Senior Advisor to the President and COO."
As President and Chief Operating Officer, Canada, Morin "will have executive responsibility for Canada Life's Canadian operations and join the executive management committee of Great-West Lifeco Inc.," the parent company, the announcement stated.
With a 20-year career in financial services, Morin joined Canada Life in 2019. He is currently Executive Vice-President, Individual Wealth and Insurance Solutions. In June 2023, he spoke with the Insurance Portal about the insurer's acquisition of Value Partners Group Inc.
In a strategic interview published in the December issue of the Insurance Journal, Jeff Macoun reflected on the year 2023 and looked ahead to 2024. "I’m not sure I’ve ever been as positive and motivated for our customers and our advisors and our staff as I am right now," he said at the time.
