Sun Life Financial Canada announced it is enhancing its employee benefits in 2023, expanding that offering with more comprehensive family planning and well-being coverage. The company says it will add adoption and surrogate expense coverage, care days and extend the company’s bereavement policy.

The company’s existing benefits include fertility services and up to 14 weeks of maternity, parental or adoptive leave top-up. New care days will give employees time off for self-care, care of others, personal appointments and days of significance. The extended bereavement policy also now includes those grieving the loss of a pregnancy or person of significance outside of family.

“These enhancements build on the existing benefit offerings Sun Life provides their employees across Canada,” they conclude. Some of those existing benefits include partially paid sabbatical leave programs offering employees the opportunity to take up to six weeks off every five years, mental health coverage of $12,500 per year, access to Lumino Health Virtual Care and more.
