Cathy Hiscott

A month after it initiated the process to select a new president for PPI, the firm’s executive chairman and CEO, Jim Virtue made a statement appointing Cathy Hiscott to the role, effective, February 6, making her responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the firm.

The certified financial planner (CFP) and certified health specialist (CHS) with more than 30 years of experience working in the industry, is also charged with the task of helping the firm to realize its vision of becoming indispensable to advisors.

Well-known in the industry, prior to joining PPI in January 2021 Hiscott worked in progressively senior roles with both Canada Life and Financial Horizons Group. Hiscott has also served in the past as president of Advocis’ predecessor organization Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (CAIFA) in the Cambridge and Guelph, Ontario chapter, is an associate member of the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) and has also volunteered in the past with LIMRA and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA).

Hiscott’s appointment follows the news announced late last year that PPI’s founder Jim Burton, and Burton’s business partner, PPI’s actuary, John McKay would both retire at the end of 2022.
