The Empire Life Insurance Company announced August 26 that it is adding telemedicine services to its benefit plans, beginning September 1, 2020. Using the service, plan members can connect with a doctor in minutes or set a specific appointment time if they prefer.
The service is provided by Teladoc Health, which also provides the Best Doctors expert medical services and the Mental Health Navigator service added to Empire Life’s plans earlier this year. It says consumers are more open than ever to telemedicine, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re hugely excited to bring this timely and convenient services to our customers. Nearly two-in-five Canadians say they have faced COVID-related barriers to medical care,” says Empire Life’s vice president of group product and marketing. “It may also help reduce absenteeism, which is a growing problem for employers.”
