The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) has announced the date of its next legal section annual meeting for lawyers and members of the CLHIA to discuss issues of common interest to those working in corporate and litigation matters. The CLHIA says the event regularly attracts over 100 attendees from across Canada.

In addition to a conversation with CLHIA president, Stephen Frank, by panel moderator, Sophie De Koninck, assistant vice president and senior counsel with Sun Life, the conference is expected to discuss policy contract issues currently in litigation, appeals case law, anti-money laundering and financial crimes and privacy. A panel discussion about the evolution of managing general agencies (MGAs) is also planned, as is a discussion intended to update conference delegates on the latest federal regulatory landscape. Pensions, litigated claims, the CLHIA’s own anti-fraud initiatives, the fair treatment of consumers, total cost reporting and the changing landscape of disability claims are also on the three-day agenda.

Being held September 12-14, 2023 in Vancouver, British Columbia, the event is expected to be delivered in person only at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.
