Charles St-Laurent

Medavie Blue Cross has appointed Charles St-Laurent Regional Vice President, Business Development in Quebec. He is taking the reins from Pierre Marion, who announced his retirement in December 2021.

A Medavie Blue Cross press release issued on March 10 noted that St-Laurent began his career with Medavie Blue Cross in 2002 while still a student. He has continued to grow in various capacities within the company, the insurer added.

Charles St-Laurent had been serving as a corporate account executive and group insurance advisor. He has a reputation for achieving record retention and growth, Medavie Blue Cross says.

Medavie Blue Cross also mentioned that St-Laurent’s strategic sense, global vision of the organization, active listening skills and creativity are important assets in leading the Quebec business development team. “Charles is well-versed in seizing business opportunities, as well as developing and implementing innovative and value-creating strategies,” David Adams, Vice-President, Business Development at Medavie Blue Cross said in the announcement.

Charles St-Laurent heaped praise on his predecessor. “Succeeding the legendary Pierre Marion with his 32-year career is no small task. I am fortunate to have had him as an incredible mentor throughout my career,” he said in the press release.

According to the 2020 Group Universe Report published by Fraser Group, Medavie Blue Cross is the fourth largest player in Canada, behind the Big Three insurers Sun Life, Canada Life and Manulife. In Quebec, where competition is fiercer, Medavie ranks seventh in a market dominated by Beneva, Desjardins Insurance, the Big Three and iA Financial Group.
