The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) issued a public statement July 17 that the public should not conduct insurance business with an individual known as Kostyantyn Poshtarenko.

The statement is a repeat of a similar statement issued by FSRA’s predecessor organization, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) in December 2014. Both statements encourage consumers to exercise caution if contacted by Poshtarenko.

“This individual appears to be selling false auto insurance policies or assisting customers in obtaining false auto insurance policies in the Greater Toronto area,” FSRA states. “Poshtarenko is not affiliated or associated with any insurer licensed by FSRA.”

In 2014, in addition to FSCO, RBC Insurance also issued a statement it was not affiliated with the phoney agent.

“Poshtarenko is not licensed to conduct insurance business in Ontario,” FSRA states in the most recent iteration of its warning. “Consumers should exercise caution if they are contacted.”
