BrokerLink announced on June 5 that it has completed its "largest Ontario acquisition" to date. The consolidator acquired The Standard Insurance Brokers Ltd, effective June 1.

Established in 1897, The Standard has offered home, auto, business, farm, recreational vehicles, life and group benefits. 

With offices in Northwestern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, The Standard also offers expertise in specialty insurance programs, including tourist resorts, RV campgrounds, aerial crop spraying and professional liability for architects and engineers. 

Eight acquisitions in 2024  

With this new acquisition, Brokerlink, an Intact Financial Corporation subsidiary, expands into two new provinces. “We’re very excited about introducing BrokerLink to customers in new Northern Ontario communities, and making our debut in Manitoba and Saskatchewan,” stated Joe D'Annunzio, President of BrokerLink.

In its press release, BrokerLink said that it has expanded into more than 10 communities in Alberta and Ontario this year, adding more than 400 insurance professionals to its team. The company added that it “is always open to speaking with broker principals who are considering future options for their brokerage.” 

Contacted by the Insurance Portal, Brokerlink confirmed that this is its eighth acquisition since the start of 2024. The consolidator announced three acquisitions May 10.
