The Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has published a public warning about doing business with unlicensed and unaffiliated agent, Harry Insurance, also known as Swaveer Khati or Jarmandeep Singh.
“FSRA is warning consumers that an individual referring to themself as Harry Insurance, Swaveer Khati and/or Jarmandeep Singh is not licensed to conduct insurance business in Ontario,” the regulator said in a statement issued September 25. “This individual appears to be assisting customers to obtain auto insurance policies in the Greater Toronto Area.”
FSRA also published Khati’s telephone numbers and email address (508-514-7350 or 416-666-1777 or [email protected]), encouraging consumers to avoid placing auto insurance business with any individual contacting them from those coordinates.
“Harry Insurance, Swaveer Khati and/or Jarmandeep Singh are not affiliated or associated with any insurer licensed by FSRA,” they continue, adding that consumers could be left with no assurance their policy is valid, or left with a valid policy that may be subject to cancellation for misrepresentation. “Policy cancellations can impact your insurance history which can lead to increased costs for insurance.” They also state that consumers purchasing insurance from unlicensed agents or entities are not protected under the province’s Insurance Act.
