A major brokerage firm has promoted one of its executives to lead its cannabis risk practice.
Hub International has appointed Evan Stait to lead this specific practice. He will work alongside Jay Virdi, Hub's North American chief sales officer of cannabis specialty.
The brokerage firm says it is experiencing “rapid growth” in the cannabis segment in Canada. “As Canada legalized cannabis for recreational use in 2018 and medicinal purposes in 2001, and with the continued advancements in the industry, [Stait’s] focus will be on enhancing cannabis insurance solutions and risk services, further developing innovative resources for clients to support their needs and expanding HUB’s knowledge and expertise to help cannabis clients succeed," Hub says in the notice of Stait's appointment.
Evan Stait joined Hub in 2014, shortly after beginning his insurance career. He specializes in emerging and complex risk sectors, including cannabis cultivation and cross-border solutions. Most recently, he led a team to pioneer outdoor crop insurance solutions for cannabis and hemp.
