Green Shield Canada (GSC) announced March 9 the acquisition of Inkblot Technologies, a virtual mental health platform.
“Building on our previous, successful digital health investments and partnerships, the acquisition of Inkblot fits with our strategic objective of increasing access for our clients to leading health services, and to mental health solutions in particular – something that has never been more important given the impact COVID-19 has had on mental health,” said Zahid Salman, president and CEO of GSC.
GSC says InkBlot matches patients with counsellors using AI-assisted technology. The platform offers digital video counselling for mental health and addiction issues, patient navigation capabilities, and a software-as-a-service (SaaS) practice management solution for mental health professionals, among other services.
GSC says the acquisition highlights the company’s “growing leadership role in the digital health marketplace, expanding upon previous investments and/or partnerships with providers like MindBeacon (iCBT), Maple (telemedicine), PocketPills (digital pharmacy), and GenXys (pharmacogenetics), just to name a few.”
The goal is to develop one of Canada’s top digital health ecosystems, says GSC, with Inkblot “providing the foundation and infrastructure required to provide individuals, employers, health systems, and governments with clinically validated, patient-centric mental health care services.”
Inkblot’s current leadership team will continue to operate the business under the Inkblot brand, with Luke Vigeant remaining as president.
