The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) announced May 18 that it is seeking applicants interested in serving on the commission’s Investor Advisory Panel (IAP) which provides an investor perspective on policy, rule-making and other regulatory initiatives.
“The IAP advises and comments on proposed rules, policies and investor protection initiatives, while considering the views of a broad range of investors through consultation with investors and organizations representing investors,” the commission writes in its announcement.
In the committee’s terms of reference, the OSC adds that the panel’s written responses to notices and requests for comment published by the commission will be publicly posted and considered in the same manner as comment letters received during a request for comment period.
“Some IAP member terms have been completed or are ending in the coming year,” they add. “New members will be appointed to staggered terms, beginning at different points throughout the year.”
The two-year terms may be extended once. In exceptional circumstances, they can also be extended a second time, as long as the total time spent as a member on the committee does not exceed five years. The OSC’s selection committee is the commission’s CEO and two executive directors who will interview short-listed candidates. The deadline to apply is June 15.
