Sarah Bradley has been appointed the new ombudsman and chief executive officer of the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI). She succeeds Douglas Melville, who left to take a similar position in the Channel Islands.

In a statement published on Aug. 5, OBSI's board of directors indicated that Bradley will assume her new role on Sept. 14.

Bradley is currently the chairwoman and CEO of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission, and is also an associate professor at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. She is a lawyer, and obtained her Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University and Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto.

In the press release announcing her appointment, OBSI notes that Bradley is a member of the North American Association of Securities Regulators, former vice chairwoman of the Canadian Securities Administrators, and that she has also been a representative on the Canadian Joint Forum of Financial Regulators.
