Meridian Credit Union and TruShield Insurance, announced June 27 that the companies have entered a new partnership wherein TruShield will offer Meridian’s members access to commercial insurance policies at a preferred rate.
The direct-to-consumer insurer says its research shows a gap in commercial insurance coverage among small businesses. “According to a November 2022 study conducted by TruShield Insurance with Leger, 27 per cent of businesses with revenues less than $250,000 don’t have any type of business insurance.” This, they add, leaves owners at risk and susceptible to bankruptcy.
“We believe we are filling a need by partnering with TruShield to provide access to an important business requirement that can help protect our small business members,” says Liz Blazanovic, vice president of business banking with Meridian.
Craig Hopkinson, vice president with TruShield adds that small business owners are constantly juggling priorities and don’t have time to worry about potential risks. “That’s why we’re excited to launch our new partnership with Meridian and protect more small businesses across Ontario,” he says.
