Marty McConnell has been elected Chair of the Board of the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU) for the years 2018–2019, announced the organization Aug. 7.

In this role, McConnell, a partner with Toronto-based Creaghan McConnell Group, succeeds Gilles Chevalier, President and Founder of Engel Chevalier Wealth Protection Inc. of Montreal.

A new three-year strategic plan

McConnell says during his term he intends to ensure that CALU continues to maintain a strong voice in public policy deliberations. “The organization is strongly positioned to do so with the board having recently approved a new three-year strategic plan focused on addressing the impact of disruption, strengthening advocacy and improving communications with key audiences,” he said.

McConnell is a Charter member of CALU and has served on its board since 2013. He acted as Chair of the CALU 2018 Annual General Meeting. In 1995, he served as President of the Toronto Advocis Chapter.
