UL Mutual, also known under its legal name, The Union Life Mutual Assurance Company, will be changing its name to UV Insurance.

The Drummondville, Quebec-based company says the change is intended to support its development across Canada.

“I’m very pleased to unveil this new name, which strongly supports our primary activity, while still paying tribute to our journey over the last 130 years. Throughout this change, we remain the same committed, friendly mutual insurance company,” said Christian Mercier, UL Mutual’s Chief Executive Officer in an Oct. 21 statement.

The change will be effective as of the official launch of the new brand image scheduled for Nov. 19, 2019, at the Life Insurance Convention in Montreal. The company says the transition will take place gradually over the coming months so that it can be done in an eco-friendly way. “You will notice that we will be using two brands over the next year, as we go through our paper inventory to minimize waste,” explains Mercier.
