Sébastien Gabez is leaving his position as CEO of April Canada on July 1. He will be replaced by Daphne de Vitton, The Insurance Portal has learned.
When Gabez took the helm of the company in August 2018, he said he wanted to harnes the wholesaler’s international expertise to develop niche markets in Canada such as taxi, recreational boat and contractor insurance.
Gabez is remaining with April, but he is taking the leap to April Caraïbes. He will assume his new role of CEO on July 2. He views this environment as familiar because the group distributes P&C insurance and health insurance. The French wholesale broker is also well established in the entrepreneur market, and is leading the pack with ties to about 1,200 brokerage agencies, Gabez says.
Digital transformation
The change in leadership marks a new chapter, says de Vitton, adding that it is a natural progression in the company’s development.
Daphne de Vitton joined the company in November 2019 as marketing strategy, innovation and digital director. She intends to accelerate the digital transformation Gabez initiated in June 2020 with the launch of April ON, a platform that lets brokers request online quotes for the wholesaler's products, including through April Marine Canada.
Her position will be filled within the next few weeks, de Vitton says.
