Terri Botosan, chief executive officer of HUB Financial Inc.,has been selected as the winner of the 2021 Alexander S. Melvin Award. 

The award, underwritten by CANNEX, recognizes individuals in the Canadian financial services industry who, through their inspirational and ethical leadership, have changed the industry for the better. Alexander Melvin, co-founder of CANNEX, passed away in 2015. The award was created in 2016

“We are delighted to recognize Terri Botosan’s leadership as well as her contributions to the industry, community, and success of those who have worked with her, through this award,” said Doug Paul, principal, Jennings Consulting, and a member of the award nomination committee. “Alex would have been delighted that we recognize Terri, not only for her personal accomplishments, but because HUB Financial’s growth story underscores the importance of inspirational and ethical leadership to a successful financial industry.”

Botosan started her career in the life insurance industry in 1986. She has been the President of HUB Financial Inc. and Hub Capital Inc. since the fall of 2000. She has served on the board of the Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies for many years, serving as President of the association for over seven years.

Each year a winner of the Alexander S. Melvin Award is selected based on how their actions have influenced change and positively impacted the banking or insurance marketplace as demonstrated through their dedication to the industry and encouragement of other professionals. Any professional from the banking or insurance industries in Canada is eligible to be nominated. The award committee is made up of independent representatives from the banking and insurance industry along with past winners of the award.

The award will be presented to Botosan on Sept. 28 as part of a virtual award presentation and discussion on importance of ethics and inspirational leadership.
