If advisors wish to register to write either the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) examination and or the Level 1 examination in financial planning that are set to take place on June 3, the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) says they must do so by May 3.

"To be eligible to write the FPSC Level 1 examination, candidates must have completed an FPSC-Approved Core Curriculum program," reads a statement published by the FPSC last week. "To be eligible for the CFP examination, candidates must have obtained FPSC Level 1 Certification in Financial Planning and have completed an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course. After completing these education and examination requirements, as well as three years of qualifying financial planning work experience, candidates can apply for CFP certification."

The FPSC says that more than 900 candidates usually sit the two exams which lead to CFP certification and FPSC Level 1 certification.
