RBC has introduced a new online advice platform that uses live video to connect clients in real time with advisors.

“MyAdvisor uses an online advice platform to digitally connect a client to an advisor, where both can view and adjust a dynamic “dashboard” showing the client’s savings and investment goals and establish actions to achieve those goals – all in real time,” stated RBC in an announcement March 29.

Currently being piloted in Ontario

The new platform was created by RBC’s Toronto-based innovation lab. MyAdvisor is currently being piloted in Ontario. Feedback from pilot participants will be used to further develop the final product ahead of a full national launch expected mid-year, said RBC.

The clients involved in the pilot are showing a strong appetite for this new digital service, said RBC. “MyAdvisor demonstrates what being a digitally-enabled relationship bank is all about, combining the convenience of digital access and the personalized advice of our advisors,” said Michael Walker, vice-president and head, Mutual Funds Distribution & RBC Financial Planning.

Adjustments are viewed in real time

Using the platform, RBC advisors can connect with clients via live video or phone depending on client preference. Clients and advisors see the same information onscreen – any adjustments made on either side are viewed in real time.
