Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFB) announced Sept. 28 that Ontario’s newly elected Minister of Finance, Vic Fedeli, will be the association’s opening keynote speaker at its Toronto Fall Summit in November.
Fedeli recently stated that his government does not agree with the Canadian Securities Administrators’ proposed amendments to ban the deferred sales charge (DSC) option.
In a statement, the IFB said Minister Fedeli’s speech at the upcoming summit “will provide financial advisors the opportunity to hear what he has to say about his government’s thinking on where financial advice and regulation is headed for Ontarians.”
Advisors on the frontline
“Following on the heels of his recent comments regarding a proposed ban on DSCs, IFB is pleased to provide the Minister the forum to speak directly to the financial advisory community,” said Nancy Allan, IFB Executive Director. “Independent advisors are on the frontline every day providing solutions to Ontario’s families and businesses, and they are anxious to hear the Ontario government’s vision for the future.”
The Summit takes place Nov. 6-7 at Toronto’s International Centre. Minister Fedeli will speak at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 6.
