Mutual fund assets were $1.997 trillion at the end of February 2022. Assets decreased by $24.6 billion or 1.2% compared to January 2022, according to data from the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). 

Net sales stood at $9.9 billion in February with balanced and equity long-term funds the biggest sellers at $9.7 billion. Bond mutual funds were down in February, with net redemptions of $155 million. 

ETF assets totalled $317.1 billion at the end of February 2022 with assets increasing $0.2 billion or 0.1% compared to January 2022. ETFs recorded net sales of $4 billion in February 2022. Net sales were highest for equity ETFs, which stood at $3.1 billion. Bond ETFs experienced net redemptions of $53 million.

Starting with January 2022 data, ETF data is adjusted to remove double counting arising from Canadian-listed ETFs that invest in units of other Canadian-listed ETFs, explained IFIC.
