Research conducted by Pollara for the Bank of Montreal (BMO) shows that 43% of Canadians now own a tablet computer, and that more than half of them use the device to manage their money.
The survey of 1201 Canadians over the age of 18 was conducted in December, and showed that 59% of tablet owners have banking apps on their tablet, and that 35% log into them daily. As for why people use apps in the first place, 55% say they use them to help them stay organized and 60% believe that apps help them use their time more efficiently. More than half of the survey respondents (55%) said that they enjoy using their tablet to do things such as shopping, banking or monitoring investments while on the go.
"Today, customers expect to have online tools that allow them to manage all aspects of their day-to-day lives, from streamlining their retail shopping to staying on top of their investments while on the go," comments Cesar Rainusso, vice president and head of digital channels at BMO Financial Group. "We know our customers value access to their finances from mobile devices. In fact, we've seen adoption for these tools increase by approximately 60 per cent in the past year alone."
