Manulife Investment Management has appointed a new head of high-net-worth (HNW) strategy for the company, saying the move is a commitment to product innovation and broader distribution in the HNW space.
Effective immediately, Alex Catterick will take on the newly created role, senior managing director, high-net-worth strategy and private markets. Catterick will be responsible for defining the firm’s strategy in the HNW space while managing the development, launch and growth of new products designed for HNW investors.
Formerly the regional head of alternative investments and HSBC, Catterick also has experience in leading alternative product distribution, investment distribution, product management and strategy deployment. Prior to HSBC, he was also the director of alternative investments at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management and a global investment specialist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
Going forward, Manulife says Catterick’s new role will be part of its effort to connect HWN investors with strategies that were historically only available to institutional investors.
“We have one of the most diverse sets of private market capabilities in the industry and high-net-worth investors present one of the fastest growing channels,” says Steve Blewitt, global head of private markets for Manulife Investment Management. “Alex’s expertise will be instrumental as we enter this exciting new chapter for the business.”
