Isabelle Hudon, Executive Chair, Sun Life Financial Quebec and Senior Vice-President, Client Solutions is leaving the company to take on a new appointment as the Canadian Ambassador to France. She is the first woman to be appointed to this role.

"I'd like to congratulate Isabelle and wish her every success in her new role," said Dean Connor, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sun Life Financial in an announcement Sept. 29. "This is a special achievement in her career and the opportunity of a lifetime. We will greatly miss Isabelle's impact on our Clients and colleagues in Quebec and Canada, but I know she'll do a sterling job as Canada's Ambassador to France."

Hudon joined Sun Life in August 2010 as SLF Quebec President, a role she held until 2015. Sun Life says that under her leadership, the company “experienced impressive growth in all business lines in Quebec and is a significantly more prominent brand within that marketplace.” Robert Dumas, succeeded Hudon as President in 2015 and will now assume the role of Executive Chair, SLF Quebec.

Contributed to strong and diverse culture

"One of Isabelle's greatest gifts to us has been how she's contributed to the development of a strong and diverse culture within Sun Life, including the empowerment of women." said Kevin Dougherty, President, Sun Life Financial Canada.

"I will always be grateful to Sun Life for the opportunity to work for an organization that cares so much about its people, culture and clients," said Hudon. "I'd like to thank my team and all my Sun Life colleagues, especially those on the Canadian Executive team, for believing in me and supporting me throughout the past seven years."
