Does iA Financial Group intend tooffer P&C insurance products outside Quebec?
Denis Ricard explained where he stands on this topic at iA’s recent investor day.
“I think it’s important to understand first why we are in that business in Quebec. Basically, P&C has been a support business for other foundation businesses to thrive. If ever we want to go outside Quebec, it will have to be for a strategic reason. We’re not going to try to compete against the big players without some kind of competitive advantage,” he says.
iA Financial Group is therefore looking at expansion from the perspective of a distributor as opposed to a product manufacturer. “In the near future, we may look at distributing some P&C products in collaboration with other sectors that we’re in. We’re just analyzing it as we speak. So we don’t know, but it’s something that could be on the table,” Ricard says.
