Harvest Portfolios Group announced Jan. 5 that it has filed a preliminary prospectus with securities regulators for what it says is Canada's first blockchain technologies Exchange-Traded Fund – Blockchain Technologies ETF (HBLK).

HBLK seeks to replicate the performance of the Blockchain Technologies Index. The ETF invests in equity securities of issuers exposed, directly or indirectly, to the development and implementation of blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.

Revolutionary and disruptive change

"Blockchain technology is creating revolutionary and disruptive change at many levels. During this nascent stage of development, blockchain technology is providing new opportunities for business, government and many other conduits of information and financial exchange," said Michael Kovacs, President and CEO of Harvest. "HBLK provides a simple way for investors to participate in the growth of this fast developing sector."
