Foresters Financial announced January 26 that its president of Foresters Financial Canada, Henry Auyeung, plans to retire in August 2023.
Matt Berman, president of the fraternal life insurer’s United States business will assume the responsibility of being president of the Canadian business, as well.
Auyeung, who started his career in 1974, joined Canada Protection Plan (CPP) and TPA Outsourcing in July 2015. He later led the amalgamation of CPP and Foresters Canada, announced in October 2020.
Berman has more than 25 years of experience in both property and casualty and life and health insurance, having worked previously with AXA as head of customer experience, among many other roles, and as AIG’s underwriting director before joining Foresters in February 2017. During his tenure with the insurer, since joining as chief strategy officer, Berman has also served as head of distribution and as chief distribution officer.
Foresters in a statement says that Auyeung and Berman, and the Canadian division, will continue to work together during the transition between now and August.
“Henry is a wonderful leader and partner. He was instrumental through the amalgamation of CPP with Foresters Canadian division,” says Foresters’ president and CEO, Louis Gagnon. “I am delighted he will work with Matt in the coming months to continue our journey of being a best-in-class insurer.”
