Desjardins Group announced Nov. 30 that it has appointed Jean-Yves Bourgeois, executive vice president of business services, effective Jan. 5, 2021. Bourgeois replaces current executive vice president, Marie-Claude Boisvert, who plans to retire in March 2021.

In his current role, Bourgeois is managing director and group head of Desjardins’ capital markets division. Bourgeois first joined Desjardins in 2010, becoming vice president of capital markets in 2016. He has also served as a member of the group’s business services management committee since 2016.

Réal Bellemare, Desjardins Group senior executive vice president and chief operating officer says Bourgeois was a natural choice when deciding who should take over Boisvert’s role. “He has more than 20 years of experience in financing for businesses of all sizes,” Bellemare said in a statement announcing Bourgeois’ appointment. “He’s deeply familiar with the sector’s challenges. I’m confident he will help Canadian entrepreneurs reach new levels of success.”
