Aviva Canada has chosen to divest itself of a subsidiary

The insurer has sold the assets of its National Home Warranty division to Hub International.

The transaction was announced on August 24. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

National Home Warranty markets new home warranties to both individuals and building contractors. The company operates in Western Canada, with offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Langley. It sells an average of 15,000 homeowner warranties annually and has 3,500 registered builders as partners.

Why is Hub purchasing this division of Aviva? “Our investment in National Home Warranty rounds out Hub's capabilities in Western Canada to offer a more complete and comprehensive solution to make builders stronger and help homeowners better protect their assets," says David Moon, President of Hub Canada West. "Their builders and clients will have access to an additional layer of risk management, specialties, resources and services with Hub,” he says.

Following the acquisition, the National Home Warranty employees will join the Hub Canada West teams.
