Aetna International will be officially opening its new Toronto office on Aug. 21. The new office will provide assistance and health insurance to Canadian employers with employees abroad and foreign companies with employees living in Canada.

The new Aetna in Canada office is located in downtown Toronto at 145 King Street West. The office will employ 10 staff members by the end of 2018 with the goal of tripling local headcount in market within a two-year span, says the company.

Aetna International announced that it was expanding into the Canadian market in February 2017.

Local representation

“We are thrilled to open an office in Toronto to better serve the needs of our global customers, locally,” said Jason McCormick, Aetna International Head of Sales and Service for Canada. “We understand that health care and how it’s accessed varies around the world, making it increasingly important to have local representation with experts that truly understand the local nuances. Our goal is to provide the best possible service and access to health care for expats from those who understand Canada’s health system best – Canadians.”

Aetna International says there are approximately eight million expatriates living in Canada and almost 3 million Canadians living abroad. The company offers these expats access to primary care, mental and behavioural health resources, logistics, referrals to secondary care, centralization of health records, healthy living advice, financial management, etc.
