Want to know who is buying travel insurance of late? Blue Cross of Canada says the majority of respondents to its 2025 Blue Cross Travel Study, are Zen-seeking travellers.

These Zen travellers, they say, prefer slow, relaxed travel experiences, they avoid packed itineraries and they also avoid rigid plans. These Canadians, they say, “find joy in unwinding and soaking in the moment.” Overall, 44 per cent of respondents fell into this category.

Next, they say 35 per cent of respondents identified themselves as YOLO (you only live once) travellers. These clients live for adventure and high-energy activities. They prefer to fill every moment with sights, sounds and experiences and they believe in making the most of every single moment.

Finally, the survey identified FOMO, or “fear of missing out” travellers – 20 per cent of respondents fell into this category, according to researchers who compiled the November 2024 results. FOMO travellers, they say, love uncovering hidden gems and unique destinations, feeling compelled to see it all in case they miss something special. These clients “believe in exploration” and generally have a never-ending list of travel ideas in mind.
