CI Investments Inc. announced May 29 that it has appointed a new head to its institutional asset management business. In a separate announcement June 1, the company also announced portfolio manager changes to two of its retail investment funds.
In the institutional space, the company announced that Bradley Hicks has joined the company as senior vice president and head of institutional. Formerly of McLean Budden where he was vice president and partner, and MFS Investment Management where he worked at managing director, Hicks has experience working with a broad institutional client base spanning pension plans, endowments, foundations, multi-employer plans and platform distribution partnerships.
In a separate announcement on the retail side of the business, the company also announced that it would make portfolio manager changes to two of its investment funds, the CI First Asset Active Credit ETF, and the CI Canadian Small/Mid Cap Fund.
Effective June 30, Marret Asset Management Inc., a specialist fixed income investment firm focused on corporate credit strategies, takes over management of the CI First Asset Active Credit ETF. Lead portfolio manager will be Paul Sandhu, Marret’s president and CEO. Co-manager on the fund will be Adrian Prenc, vice president, portfolio manager and chief risk officer with Marret.
Effective June 15, meanwhile, Sentry Investment Management will replace Manulife Investment Management in the CI Canadian Small/Mid Cap Fund. Lead managers of the Sentry portion of the portfolio will be Aubrey Hearn, vice president, senior portfolio manager and head of equities at Sentry, and portfolio manager, Jack Hall. Picton Mahoney Asset Management and QV Investors Inc. will each continue to manage their own portions of the multi-manager fund going forward.
