Strengthening its commitment to two important markets, Zurich Canada has announced a number of new leadership appointments. The first three appointments are central to the company’s 2020-2022 business strategies, including the launch of Zurich Canada’s new Middle Market organization.

“This move brings key leadership and experience to our team and will contribute to the expansion of the products and services we offer to the Canadian market,” said Zurich Canada CEO Saad Mered. “Combining the addition of these insurance industry veterans with the global presence and financial strength of Zurich is timely and well positions us to serve Canadian businesses who continue to look for guidance in handling the ever-emerging and evolving risks they face.”

Donna Mulligan named head of Middle Market

Donna Mulligan has been named head of Middle Market responsible for spearheading Zurich Canada’s re-entry into the Canadian middle market and developing a package solution targeting specific industries and customer segments.

Joining Mulligan on the new Middle Market team will be Larbi Bouhlal, who was named Vice President, Middle Market for Eastern Canada. This marks Bouhlal’s return to Zurich, where he was a Branch Manager of Allianz’s Montreal office. He will work out of Montreal, reporting to Mulligan.

Zurich Canada also announced the addition of Jeff Kislasko to lead Zurich Canada’s Programs business unit. Kislasko comes to Zurich from Allianz, where he was National Programs Underwriting Manager. He will be based in Toronto and report to Head of Specialty Products.

Jeff Burke to include alternative distribution channels

Jeff Burke, current Head of Programs, will step up to lead Business Development for that segment. His new role will include strategic development of alternative distribution channels and overseeing customer relationship management for large customers.

Cristina Machado, head of Underwriting Services for Zurich Canada, has been named to the newly created role of the head of International Programs for Canada. She will be based in Toronto. In her new role, Machado will be responsible for developing an improved operating model for Middle Market customers seeking international solutions and helping drive global consistency in service and delivery excellence for policy issuance, endorsement handling and other services.
