During his recent trip to China, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the launch of Manulife-Sinochem's MOVE program.

Manulife-Sinochem was was China's first first foreign-invested joint-venture life insurance company. Its new MOVE program celebrates its 20th anniversary in the country and will reward customers with free insurance coverage when they steps to stay healthy and active. The launch took place in Shanghai on September 2, where Trudeau spoke briefly about partnerships between Canada and China and then took part in a tai chi performance.

Manulife has already begun similar initiatives in Hong Kong, the Philippines, and the United States, and it will make its Vitality program available to Canadians this fall. In China, customers who sign up for MOVE will receive a fitness tracker which will allow them to measure their progress at any time, anywhere.  Upon achieving pre-set goals, customers will have the opportunity to earn free insurance of up to 200,000 RMB (about $38,700 CDN).

“We think it’s time to use the power of technology to empower and reward our customers in China for living a healthier lifestyle,” says Roy Gori, president and CEO of Manulife Asia. “Leveraging the huge success we’ve had with Manulife MOVE in Hong Kong, Macau and the Philippines, we’re excited to be bringing this revolutionary life insurance experience to our customers in mainland China, and create more engaging relationships with them.”
