Owner and Financial Advisor
Financial planner, Jay Gangnes started his career as a captive agent 15 years ago. Five years later he launched his own independent practice, Vancouver-based JR Financial. Today Gangnes is a Top of the Table member with the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT).
Over the years, starting from day one, Gangnes has earned a number of accolades, including recruit of the year when he first started out with the Clarica Life Insurance Company in 2004. In his own practice he later partnered with Richardson GMP in 2014. That same year JR Financial was PPI Solutions’ top producing financial planning firm in British Columbia.
In addition to time spent building his corporate tax planning and high net worth personal estate planning practice over the years, Gangnes has also focused on continuing education for himself, earning his Certified Financial planner (CFP) designation in 2010 and his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in wealth transfer and estate planning in 2012.
Although he spent many years working in a “commission based, product-driven world,” today he is transitioning his business once again, to provide fee-for-service financial planning to his clients. The firm is also rebranding, changing its name to Ocean 6 Wealth Advisory in the spring of 2018. “I am really trying to build something big and have a major impact on the financial planning landscape in Canada,” he says. “I feel like there is an opportunity to make a big change for people and create significantly more value.”
