The Rising Stars of the insurance and investment industries — Committed to exceeding expectationsBy Kate McCaffery | April 24 2018 09:00AM
A hands-on CEO, François Levasseur likes to be involved of all aspects of the business at Kronos Technologies Inc. From product development to technical operations, he says he likes to make sure that his team is on point, “that our technology exceeds expectations and that our clients are happy.”
Recognized as an expert in new technologies, Levasseur is a regular speaker at conferences and on panels, often called on to discuss technology use and the future of financial services. “I am deeply convinced that emerging technologies will contribute to fundamentally changing our lives,” he says. “In this regard, I think the financial industry is one that will be most affected by these changes.”
He is a member of CLIEDIS (Canadian Life Insurance EDI Standards) and CAILBA (Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies) working groups, and a member of the IIAC (Investment Industry Association of Canada) FinTech committee.
Those working with Levasseur say he is often able to see opportunities that aren’t yet apparent to others. Since joining Kronos in 2004, he is described as being the company’s driving force. His active role in the company’s transformation from a desktop software provider to a digital service provider in 2008 resulted in him becoming a partner that same year.
During his tenure as CEO, the software company has also grown from a Quebec-based organization to a national company. Named the young entrepreneur of the year in 2014 by Quebec’s Young Chamber of Commerce, Levasseur was also named one of 20 young entrepreneurs to watch in 2016 by Le Soleil newspaper in Quebec City.
