Sun Life Financial has launched a ratings network that will allow group plan members to review the services they have received from local healthcare providers.

The insurer launched the program yesterday, and it is available in English and French through the my Sun Life mobile app. Those who submit a paramedical healthcare claim may now rate the service they received on a scale from one to five. Reviews can be left for a range of professionals, including chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, chiropodists, naturopaths, osteopaths and psychologists.

"Our clients have told us that a major hurdle for them in managing their health and well-being was having a trusted resource for finding a healthcare provider closest to them," says Chris Denys, Senior Vice-President of Possibilities, Digital Health Solutions, Sun Life Financial Canada. "We see this as a significant opportunity to empower Canadians to manage their health and wellness."

Denys suggests the program is similar to the TripAdvisor web site, but it is aimed at the healthcare sector rather than the travel business. Powered by the community of Sun Life plan members, the insurer expects the program to generate 25,000 ratings a week or over 1 million ratings a year.
