Steven Ross will leave his position of President and Chief Operating Officer of La Capitale Insurance and Financial Services effective March 30. Ross has held this position for seven years. He is also leaving his role as President and COO of La Capitale Civil Service Insurer and La Capitale Financial Security.

Jean St-Gelais, Chairman of the Board and CEO of La Capitale Civil Service Mutual and La Capitale Financial Group, will take over Ross’ duties for the time being.

In an interview with The Insurance and Investment Journal, Ross says that after 13 years, he feels he has accomplished everything he could do at La Capitale and would like to move on to a new stage in his career. He added that it was his choice to leave and he is on excellent terms with the company. “I will be taking some time to reflect and will be open to other opportunities in the industry.”

In his seven years of leadership, Ross oversaw La Capitale’s life and health sector growth from a volume of $275 million of in force premiums to $1.2 billion. The insurer rose from 26th place in Canadian life insurance market rankings to 9th place. Ross says he is pleased that La Capitale has become, with the help of his team, an influential player in the industry.
