Great-West Life, London Life, and Canada Life are restructuring their Canadian operations around two business units, one focused on individual customers and one on group customers. Four new executives have been appointed as part of the changes.

Yesterday afternoon, the companies announced an "organizational alignment" that is meant to respond to changing customer needs and expectations. The organisation has also created a strategic customer marketing function that it says will provide a "more holistic customer experience through digital and innovative capabilities and services".

Four new executives were appointed as part of the change:

  • Jeff Macoun, who has been with Great-West Life and London Life for 30 years and was leader of the Group Life & Health businesses, will become the Executive Vice-President, Group Customers.
  • Gerry Hassett, the managing director of Irish Life Financial Services, will leave Dublin to serve as Executive Vice-President, Individual Customers.
  • Stéphane Dubreuil, who joined the organization in 2015 as Senior Vice-President, Market Development & Strategy, will become Executive Vice-President, Strategic Customer Marketing.
  • Monique Maynard, FSA, FCIA, will serve as President, Quebec Affairs. She will also become Chief Actuary for the companies when the current Chief Actuary for Canada retires next year.

“Our existing business model has been extremely successful and has provided outstanding value to our advisors and to our customers,” said Stefan Kristjanson, President and Chief Operating Officer, Canada. “The changes we are announcing today build on our core strengths and will position us to continue to meet the changing needs of both advisors and customers.”
