The Ontario Securities Commission announced July 24 that its tribunal reasons will now be made available through the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) website. The OSC says this new initiative will increase the transparency and accessibility of this information.
CanLII is a non-profit organization that makes Canadian law accessible and searchable for free on the internet. OSC tribunal reasons will be added to the CanLII website as part of the Ontario database under Boards and Tribunals and will include reasons issued since 2004.
Accessibility and transparency
"The inclusion of OSC tribunal reasons on CanLII further enhances accessibility and transparency. It also enables parties and the public to search for OSC tribunal reasons online free of charge," explained Grace Knakowski, Secretary to the Commission.
Tribunal reasons and other proceeding documents, including notices of hearing, statements of allegations, orders and settlement agreements will also continue to be published on the OSC website.
