La Capitale Insurance and Financial Group Inc. has issued an alert for the public to exercise extreme caution, as a group of individuals in the Montreal area appears to be unlawfully using the name or logo of its member companies to offer personal loans or investment opportunities.
The company is reminding the public that its savings and investment products are distributed exclusively through representatives licensed by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). They added that La Capitale does not offer the public any form of financing, other than mortgage loans or lines of credit.
Financing or investment schemes
La Capitale is advising caution with regard to any other form of financing or investment that may be offered by anyone claiming to be a representative or partner of the financial group. It suggests that consumers contact the AMF if they have doubts concerning any financing or investment scheme that may have been offered in conjunction with its name.
