The board of the Canadian Association of Managing General Agents (CAMGA) announced during its recent annual general meeting that executive director Steve Masnyk will depart the organization this summer.

Steve Masnyk

Masnyk has led the CAMGA since 2020 and helped build it into a fully operational organization.

“We managed to put together a value proposition for the entire MGA channel in Canada, regroup 90 per cent of MGAs in Canada as members to speak with one voice, publicly set governance standards in MGA operations that apply to every MGA member across the country, and attract four or five-fold the number of insurance companies outsourcing their underwriting to MGAs,” Masnyk told the Insurance Portal in an interview.

As for his own future, “I am exploring a few avenues both within the industry and the MGA world, which naturally is a sector I am very fond of and think I can bring some value to,” he says.

Masnyk notes that CAMGA began trying to find his replacement around the end of May, but that search is expected to take some time and he will likely remain with the organization into August.
