More than 200 volunteers from Foresters Financial, the City of Burlington (Ontario) and non-profit KaBOOM! have created a new playground for children and their families in the local community.

“We believe in enriching lives and building strong communities – that’s our purpose,” stated Chris Stranahan, International Fraternal President, Foresters Financial, in an announcement Aug. 13. “Playgrounds are important because they provide a public space where children can play safely, families can spend quality time and the community can come together. An investment in a playground is an investment in community, and we are happy to provide the Burlington community with a place that families can enjoy for years to come.”

Based on drawings by neighborhood children

In June, neighborhood children participated in an event with organizers from KaBOOM! and Foresters with the goal of designing their dream playground. The children’s drawings inspired the final playground design.

Foresters says that from 2006 to the end of 2017, it will have invested more than $13 million with KaBOOM! to build more than 140 playgrounds across the US and Canada.
