CIBC is inviting Canadians to join the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure event, a fundraiser for breast cancer research.

Funds raised through this event over the past 20 years, have led to progress in breast cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and care, helping  reduce breast cancer mortality rates by 44 percent since their peak in the mid-1980s.

56 communities taking part

The 2017 Run for the Cure will take place in 56 communities across Canada on Sunday, Oct. 1. For more information, visit cibcrunforthecure.com or download the fundraising app.

"This year, we are encouraging supporters to wear their passion like a badge of honour and paint their pinkies pink to proudly display their commitment to fighting this disease through a promise to run, donate or fundraise," said Christina Kramer, Senior Executive Vice-President, CIBC, in a Sept. 25 announcement.

Another way to show your support

This year, CIBC is also offering Canadians another way to make a difference by simply "tapping" to show their support. Through Oct. 11, CIBC will donate $1to the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure when a client makes a purchase using their CIBC mobile wallet via Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay, to a maximum of $150,000.
