Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company and Canadian Premier General Insurance Company (Canadian Premier) have announced that Suzette Huovinen is the organization’s new CEO, effective May 1.

Huovinen has 21-years of experience with Canadian Premier’s parent company, Securian Financial Group, a US-based provider of insurance, investment and retirement solutions. She most recently held the position of Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary & Chief Risk Officer with Securian.

In her new role, Huovinen will lead the company’s Canadian expansion.

“I look forward to serving as CEO of Canadian Premier and to building upon the successes of the organization," says Huovinen. “There is great opportunity in the Canadian market for the diverse type of protection and specialized products Canadian Premier offers, and we will continue to strengthen and expand our market presence to the benefit of our partners and their customers."

Late last year, Canadian Premier also brought its property & casualty company under the Canadian Premier brand to create a more unified market presence for both its life and P&C businesses.

“These brand changes allow us to leverage Canadian Premier’s reputation for product and service excellence as we expand the solutions we offer to millions of Canadians,” says Huovinen.
