A wave of life underwriters are retiring from the business. In response, LOGiQ3 and Seneca College are working together to train students and encourage them to consider a career in the field.

The new online Underwriting Training Program (UTP) covers medical and non-medical topics, providing students with the skills they need to assess mortality risk accurately. Besides young people, the college says the UTP is suitable for professionals already working in the industry, as well as those in life and health sciences, nursing, and kinesiology who wish to pursue career options in life underwriting, claims, sales, or new business.

“Our partners in the insurance industry have highlighted the need for more training from post-secondary institutions, as much of the industry is facing retirement challenges in the coming years,” says Jeff McCarthy, Dean, Seneca Faculty of Continuing Education and Training. “Seneca is delighted to partner with an industry leader such as LOGiQ3 to expand our insurance training offerings and help us provide relevant, industry-driven programming that prepares students for the working world.”

Prospective students who would like more information are invited contact Keith Chapin, [email protected] or visit the UTP home page on Seneca College’s Faculty of Continuing Education website.
